Questions to ask your doctor

Before you go in for your consultation, mentally walk through your typical week, but imagine you have a broken arm or leg. What would it affect? Do you usually run or bicycle to work? Are you on your feet all day? Is it a high stress environment? What would happen if you absolutely had to take 2-3 days off work? This will give you an idea of what special needs you need to attend to.

Suggested questions
  1. When can I work out/start strength training again?
  2. Are there any foods I should avoid?
  3. Are there any foods that will help me heal quicker?
  4. What medications will you prescribe? Will those counteract with anything I'm currently taking (vitamins, oral contraceptives; remember that sometimes antibiotics affect the strength of oral contraceptives!)?
  5. What kind of anesthesia will you use? Will I need to fast the night before?
  6. When can I drive again?
  7. Can I keep my teeth?

Many of these questions will probably be answered before you have a chance to ask them.
